.....Since my Crossfit "initiation" with FGB back in September, I've developed a passion for waking up at 4:30am and driving 35 minutes to have my ass handed to me by something called a WOD. I've learned a whole new language ( with words like thrusters, kipping, amrap ) that makes my family and friends think I'm nuts.... I've taken more ibuprophen, used more ice-packs and neosporin, and even thrown up after more workouts in the past 2 months than ever before... AND I'M LOVING EVERY BIT OF IT!!!!!!!
I get to workout with the best damn group of people around that motivate me to do better and push myself harder with each challenge.
Thanks CrossFitWV for getting me in the best shape of my life!!!! I'm looking forward to setting new PR's and spreading the CF gospel!!

......This stuff works is all I can say. All kinds of people have noticed a difference in me lately. Feeling great.
TB
.....I'm glad to be part of the CrossFitWV family. I don't know if you can tell or not, but I absolutely love it. CrossFit was made for me. I've always been active, but in a group setting such as sports, and when I decided I needed to get myself back in shape, I'm glad you suggested Boot Camp and eventually CrossFit.

I feel CF is the main factor in my, what I feel is, my highest level of physical fitness. I agree with Coach Dan. I look forward (sometimes dread the burpees) each day to the WOD. The WOD's help me and everyone else achieve great levels of pain and accomplishment. CF is also what I sometimes call a hobby / stress reducer / sanity keeper. Reason being is that when I am at the box, I don't worry so much about work. I like coming to the box and having everyone there that are motivating each other and suffering through the WOD's as well. Plus, it's just plain good old fashion fun! ROCK ON!

Crossfit was made for me. I was in serious burnout from weight training and working out at other gyms off and on for 15 years and was looking for something new and different. First it was bootcamp that evolved into CrossFit. I was active in competitive sports from my teens through college and was in good shape then. But now, several years later, and in just a few months, I am in better overall shape than I was when I was playing sports year round.
I just had this same conversation this morning with a non-CrossFitter who has thought about checking CF out, but has his "routine" at the Y he can't seem to let go of. I too look forward to working out every morning (though there are some days it's more dread than anticipation.) And like Pete said, it's just fun!

Was there ever a better time in our lives? As kids, everything in the world was perfect. I used to wake up on a weekend to watch the early morning cartoons, have a bowl of cereal or two lol, and then I’d play all day long. It was such a simple life, but it made sense and it worked. I was doing exactly what I wanted to do. During the summers, I’d do that same thing every day as my routine. I never complained that I was bored or didn’t have anything to do, because there were always toys to play with, new games to make up, and friends to hang out with because their routines were the same as mine.
As I grew older, things changed a little bit as video games and sports became the important things, but there was always time for these things. Instead of waking up for cartoons, I’d get up to watch Sports Center, and then switch over to a few cartoons before meeting up with my buddies for video games or playing some football or basketball. As high school came into the picture, I played sports more and more, and woke up some mornings to mow lawns and grease my daddys coal truck before it got too hot outside to work. For some reason though, it was never too hot to play football or basketball. I would play at noon each day for a few hours, go home to rest up and get some dinner, and then I’d be right at 7:00 again until the lights went out. It was perfect!
Until Now.....right now is the best time of my life. I never get bored because there all always toys to play with and how we play with them changes everyday. I wake up early and get to go hang out with people who are my "family". People who I feel would do anything for me if I asked. (But I'm stubborn and probably wouldn't ask) I get to watch individuals lives change on a daily basis. I'm the luckest one of us all...why because I get to share those 5 mins after a hard WOD (you know what I'm talking about here!) with almost all of you guys.
I am CrossFit...because I'm doing what I love too do from Morning to Night.

Here goes. I love to move! Since I was 10 there has always been dance. I have practically lived in the studio for most of my life. A lot of people never really understood that. I'm not the typical dancer. I don't have the build or the natural talent for it. My instructor has even told me that when I was 12 she thought I was a nice girl and I tried hard, but I'd never make it. Many people wondered (and still do) why I didn't persue more academic goals. But what can I say, I don't give up and I just love to move! I especially love the feeling during a performance of pure present moment awareness, nothing that happened before matters, and your too busy in the present to worry about the future. However, I was still searching for something and especially in recent years have been very restless. I have tried all sorts of things looking for something to fill in the gaps that dance training leaves. I tried (yes pilates), gyrokenisis (which is kind of cool), ice skating, karate, and of course joined the Y! Nothing was the right fit, nor did it give me what I was looking for.
Luckily, just as I was giving up, I thought I'd do some personal training and get some nutrition guidance at Medabolix. I'd tried everything else, so why not? I must say it is one of the best things, if not the best thing I have ever done. I can't even describe how my life has changed since then and how much richer it is.
I am Crossfit because......I no longer sleep through the best part of the day and drag myself through the week. Instead I get to go to Crossfit and do the WOD with an amazing group of people. Sure some days are harder than others, but also there are the WOD's that just feel great. The WOD is certainly a time of present moment awareness (how could you possibly think of anything else?) And what a wonderful group of coaches to motivate and guide the WODs. It is amazing to be able to push yourself to your limits and when you think you can't push anymore there are others there pushing and cheering you on. Where else do you get the opportunity to do things you never dreamed you could do four months ago. It really is the best overall fitness program. There is nothing like it and never will be. I could go on, but I've written too much already. I have been dancing for 20 years and put The Ballet on a pedastal, but after 4 short months CrossFit WV and everyone involved has a place in my heart right alongside my dance family. Thank You. I am truly blessed.

I am CrossFit because...I never want life to lose its excitement! And we all will admit that CrossFit is anything but boring! Two years ago I was introduced to CrossFit through the military and immediately recognized it for what it is,,,THE most comprehensive fitness program out there. One that will take you to a level of fitness that you never dreamed possible. I raced with the Air Force Triathlon Team for three years and thought that I was in peak physical condition. HA! Now at the age of, hmmmm, I find that I am in the best shape of my life. The most exciting part of that is that I can keep up with those, hockey playing, snowboarding, active as heck, crazy boys of mine. So, I guess I am CrossFit because....I will never settle for less than I am capable of and CrossFit is gonna help get me there!

I'll start by posting part of a random e-mail that i sent to CFWV back in November... ".....Since my Crossfit "initiation" with FGB back in September, I've developed a passion for waking up at 4:30am and driving 35 minutes to have my ass handed to me by something called a WOD. Never before have I been a part of something that has impacted my life the way that CrossFit has. I've played just about every team sport there is over the years but i have never been a part of a more dynamic, close-knit, supportive, bad-ass bunch of guys and gals as i am here at CFWV!! Everyone at "The Box" is so passionate about fitness and the CF way of life, and it truly is contagious. When the stretching is over and Thunderstruck starts playing, age doesn't matter, gender doesn't matter, the pain goes away.... The only thing that matters is attacking the WOD with as much intensity and focus as humanly possible and getting the best workout of your life!! Doing this 5 days a week combined with a healthy diet has completely transformed my body and earned me a nickname of "The Machine". *although that nickname can be used for every single person in the CFWV Family!!
I am CrossFit because....When the WOD is over and the reality of what i just went through sets in, i have a smile on my face. When the pain comes and I look around and see that I am not going through it alone, i have a smile on my face. When I post times and accomplish goals that I never thought possible, I have a smile on my face. In the evenings when I am dead tired, sore as hell, and the days events are going through my mind and I realize that I gave it 110% all day, I have a smile on my face!!

All thru school I played several sports and was always active. Thru college physical activity was hit or miss, and basically until I began bootcamp at Medabolix in Sept 07. I would play basketball, bike ride, or play tennis with friends off and on. However, for a little over 10 yrs I did not have any regular exercise.
I am CrossFit because I love the challenge. CF has made me physically and mentally stronger. It feels great to be back in shape. I feel I can accomplish anything. The WOD gets my day started in the best way possible. My family/friends outside of CF think I'm crazy and don't understand what I have at "The Box". My CF family gives me the encouragement and support I need to finish every WOD. I have met the best group of people at CF. One thing about CF.. it gives you as much as you give it. I look forward to improving my strength and endurance even more over the next year. Thank you CrossFit and everyone I have met there.....

I have to start by saying I really am in a cult. I was told by a non CFer that this was the worst workout program you could do for your body. Staying sore all the time is not good for you, it means your OVERDOING IT! I told them if they weren't sore after almost every workout they weren't doing enough! (Probably why they were still packing a few extra pounds!). I actually found CrossFit by accident. After a couple of years of running, walking, biking, swimming and eating what I though was a pretty healthy diet, I was not getting the results I wanted. After 35 the weight starting creeping up in the abdominal region as well as the lower body. I was looking for a personal trainer. I asked Mickra if she worked out with a personal trainer because she was obviously in excellent shape and she told me she did CrossFit and I should check it out. I have never worked out in a gym and was not a fan of the social workout crowd, I thought of myself as a loner who liked to put on the ipod and never make eye contact with neighbors while running. Boy was I wrong. I found a group of people that motivate me to levels I never thought were possible. I have lost 4.8lbs of body fat in only 2 months. I have learned to eat protein and meat and like it. Maybe this is a "cult" but I am glad as hell to be a member!!
I am cross fit because I need the support to be in the best shape of my life!!

When Jeremy found CF back in the summer,I thought here we go another idea.It hit me one day as I sat in the bike shop talking to some friends of ours and we all had the same conclusion. He must really like this it has kept his attention for a month. Then we laughed and said ok lets give him six weeks....
Six Months Later.....
I don't consider myself an extreme cross fitter at this time because I've been out for a few months. That doesn't mean I'm not there mentally . I crawl out of bed at 5AM slowly trying to get back in the routine of working out. I get my coffee and try to wake up. But before I go into the gym. I'm not thinking what am I lifting today? or What body part can I work that isn't sore? I'm going to my computer wondering,What did Lane treat herself with for all of her hard work was it a sugar free pudding or my favorite so far a palmful of semi sweet choc.? I find my self hoping that the Ballerina does well that morning so when the newest member of SWAT that calls himself Peter Pan will have to work harder to beat her time..lol..I wonder whos hands are sore because they have ripped them for the 10th time?
I have worked and worked out in other gyms and never in my life have I experienced any thing close to this. I'm not talking about the brutal workouts that make you think in the middle WTF am I doing? I think I may die today. But once it is over and you have caught your breath your wondering whats the WOD for tomorrow...I'm talking about the people who have entered and are entering the CF "family" on a daily basis. I'm talking about the goals that each and everyone of us have, whether it be to beat a time, lift it heavier, or just lift it one more time.No matter if your a new member or someone who has been with us since boot camp,We all are on the same road together to accomplish something worth our blood sweat and tears. So you always know that if you fall or get discouraged there will always be some one to look at you and say "Get your shit together and get back to it. Crying over it is not going to get you there any faster"...lol (as it was so delicately put to me)..lol.
In one of the most over weight and unhealthiest states ..Its awesome to know there is an ever growing family that meet at our house on a daily basis if only for a few minutes just so we can Stay fast, Stay strong ,Stay lean, Stay the minority...They say we are a cult ..I say they are just bored and its only a matter of time before they ring our doorbell.....
I am Crossfit because there will never be a day that i'm not working towards something that will improve my life....
Thank you Jeremy for taking this one idea and running with it ...and we all know how you love running....

I am Crossfit... because it's improved not only my body, but my focus, attitude and ENERGY!! I've built muscle and lost 11% body fat in just a few months. When I began I couldn't even do "one" boys push up and "hated" lifting weights.I avoided the free weight area at the gym like the plague. With the support and encouragement of my fellow 6am-ers I've proven Crossfit isn't just for muscle-bound guys or super athletes... it can help the "average" person. You don't have to be young, thin, strong or eat twigs and berries for the program to work. Thank you Jeremy,Dan,Marta and my Crossfit "family" for helping me look and feel the best I ever have!

Wow, it is hard to follow such good posts. I played football and baseball from childhood up to thirteen years old. I was an average athlete at best. When I was playing these sports I was always thinking about doing something "out of the norm", so when I was thirteen I started training in martial arts. I had finally found my niche and was considered better than average, but more importantly I was having fun.
After being involved in the martial arts for awhile I started to look for more "rogue" forms of martial arts lol. I went from traditional to more modern approaches to martial arts. Can you see an trend forming.
Soon began my journey searching for a strength and conditioning program that was not the "norm". How I found Crossfit was by way of the US Navy SEALs. I have always been fascinated by these warriors and if there was a TV show, magazine artice, website etc I would check it out. One day I was reading an article about SEALs using something called Crossfit, then I was hooked.
I am Crossfit.....because Crossfit has gotten me in the best shape of my life, it makes me feel good knowing that 95% of the public would never do this lol. It has given me great stress relief and it is cheaper than therapy lol

I am CrossFit because: it's awesome. I'm over 100 lbs overweight, but the feeling I get every day when I go to the Box is one of sheer enjoyment and a realization that I can do ANYTHING, whether it be just finishing the workout of the day or knowing that I will be down to my ideal weight by the end of 2009. I feel better already, and after 17 workouts in the past 28 days here, I feel like there isn't anything that I won't be able to accomplish if I continue to make that trek over to the Box. I'm Crossfit because I know that I'll only have one problem on my road to fitness this year: how the heck am I going to afford new suits??!?!?
I've already lined up three people that have promised to buy me new suits when I've lost 100 lbs. It'll be great when they have to pay up. 13 down, 87 to go baby.
I am CrossFit because it's the first time I've realized that I CAN do this, and I will. And when guys like Skip, Will and Jay will get down and do Burpees with me to help me finish out my WOD, I know that I am part something special, and I really appreciate all the help that everyone has given me.

I am crossfit because it takes exercise to a higher personal goal. As a middle age female it is harder to get the old metabolism to burn the calories as it used to.
I started last spring trying out boot camp at Metabolix. My past YMCA aerobics classes, spin classes, water aerobics and yoga were not getting the best results. I was getting a little too fluffy. There were the incressing aches and pains of neck, shoulder and low back from some old injuries and degenerative arthrits. Because of high cholesterol that runs in the family I was taking Lipitor which caused the side effect of muscle pain or fybromyalgia.
There had to be a better way...I quit taking the lipitor started taking Niacin, Omega 3 and CoQ10.
Fybromyalgia can be totally debilitating. Oddly rest and inactivity seem to make matters worse. I really need to exercise more to produce enough natural endorphins to combat the toxins and pain associated with the problem...So how do you exercise more with a higher intensity that gives you both cardiovascular and strength building componets? CROSSFIT of course.
When Jeremy took our little boot camp group to the box. I was a little leary that I might not be able to hang with the group. Now four months later I have to say I'm still there and I have lost 12 pounds of that body fat and the aches and pains of fybromyalgia and low back pain are gone. I feel so much better, stronger and more energetic.
My friends at cross fit are great they are all supportive and encourage me through the toughest feats. Improvements are noticeable not only to me but others. I am not bothered that my numbers and time may not ever be of competition quality but I know that every day that I show up is paying me back through my health and fitness.
Patience and persistance keeps me coming back...Besides someone has to come in last. I am here to make the others feel good.
The whole group are displaying greater strength and abilities. I am proud of everyone! The biggest muscle we have is HEART! I love all of you and thank yor for being crossfit.

I am CrossFit because ...
the fancy locker room really makes me feel important and successful.
No, seriously, I am CrossFit because...
of the great music they play while I'm working out.
Okay, I was joking. I am CrossFit because of the soft towels that the pretentious staff members, like Muffy and Biff, bring to me during my workout.
Obviously, I was joshing on that last one. I am CrossFit because...
of the juice bar. Man, I can't wait to finish on the elliptical trainer and order my chilled carrot juice (that sprig of parsley really tops it off!).
Alright--so there is no juice bar. That's okay 'cause I was just spoofing anyhow.
What's far more important to me are the mirrors. Those walls of mirrors in the workout area are awesome! Dude, I get so stoked seeing how great I look when I flex and pose in those mirrors between sets. And I'm sure those hotties in spandex are noticing me, too. That's the great thing about mirrors.
Moment of truth: there are no mirrors. (And I haven't seen anyone in spandex... well, I wore some once, myself, actually. But that's not really important at all.)
What's important about CrossFit are the people.
Hopefully a few of them had a laugh or a chuckle just now. (I'll bet their abs hurt when they laughed. Mine certainly are sore from "Hell Week.")
I could give a damn about mirrors,or juice bars,or plush towels,or trendy music
or fancy lockerrooms.
I love people who are driven ... who squeeze every ounce out of life. I love people who love to compete, to push themselves-- and others (like me)--beyond our preconceived limits.
So if you see me at The Box, push me, encourage me and compete with me. I promise to do the same. We'll both benefit.
And like the Tin Woodsman from Oz, I'd love it if you'd give me a drop or two of oil, especially during those pre-WOD stretches.

I am Cross Fit because Jeremy made me do this crazy stuff! Seriously, I am into this because of the promises it and the people running it made to me and have kept. They promised nothing but hard work and sweat. They promised there was no way to get real results without hard work and sweat. They promised me that if I would take the time to learn the routine and the flow they would work with me to get me where I want to be. They promised they wouldn't let me slack. They promised me that everyone else in this program was pretty much like me, interested in the results and actually happy to see others succeed too. Promises made. Promises kept. Down 23 pounds of useless fat and up 12 pounds of muscle. Stamina and strength better than 10 years ago. Everyone asking me wtf happened to you? I sound like a convert to a televangelist or Amway. Thanks to the entire staff and Jeremy for telling me I owed it to myself to try this. Thanks to all of you CF'ers who have ever said keep going or counted down my last reps for me.
