Classes are on for this week - Monday, Wednesday and Thursday @9:15.
In addition to our workouts this week, we will be offering some tips to the kids about healthy eating.
Parents have no interest spending a lot of time in the kitchen in the hot summer months! And kids are all about having quick things to grab to eat. This leads to frig and cabinet fillers like cereal, pop tarts and frozen waffles, all carb and sugar laden with minimal nutrition.
Instead, try some nutritious quick grabs. Boil a half dozen eggs at a time and keep them in the frig. They are great for breakfast or lunch. Fruit dipped in almond butter is also a good option. Keep cherry tomatoes and carrots and cucumbers cut in spears available, and even some low sodium deli sliced turkey and ham (just serve them rolled up rather than on bread!). Put a handful of grapes in the freezer for a sweeter treat. You can also now find flavored greek yogurt tubes in the dairy section. Each tube has just 8 grams of sugar and 5 grams of protein. These options are quick, easy and tasty and sure beat the salty, empty calories found in a box or in a bag of chips!
